Rainscreens provide limitless design options for building facades while controlling moisture and reducing energy consumption. Single frame or double frame design? LITECORE – Lightweight Thin Natural Stone Panel Systems
LITECORE is a natural stone composite panel cladding system providing large stone profiles without the weight. Weighing only 5lbs per SF, they are easier to install, require less equipment, and increase design capabilities. The clip and rail attachment system gives an incredibly secure installation that can happen in any climate year round. The water impervious panel can be installed as a closed or open joint system. LITECORE panels have many design and color options which can be paired easily with other exterior selections to make a seamless project design. These panels are extremely impact resistant with 60 x’s the strength of our regular 3mm slab.
What is a Lightweight Thin Stone Panel? LITECORE thin stone panel products are manufactured in a four-layer “sandwich-panel” where a 1/4″ thick stone veneer is bonded to a waterproof fiberglass layer using an astronautical-grade epoxy that also secures the aluminum honeycomb center to the chosen backing. This is accomplished by laminating the layer of epoxy-reinforced, fiber-rich cloth directly over the honey comb to provide crack and fracture resistance, as well as, flexural and impact strength. The stone veneer, fiber-rich, epoxy-saturated material and aluminum honeycomb backing are then placed into a press that laminates the layers together, creating a nominal 1″ panel. The resulting bond strength is such that it would require more than 66,200 lbs. per sq. ft. to separate the stone from the aluminum honeycomb substrate.
Lower Installation Costs – Lightweight at 3.5 lbs per sf, can be panelized, field applied in rainscreen applications by cladding contractors.
Design Flexibility – Custom-sized panels fabricated from 4′ x 8′ sheets and allowing shapes as well as vertical or horizontal planking in varying and thin widths. Panels can be curved to form radial designs. Application flexibility and the lightweight nature of the product makes panel systems an ideal option for retrofit applications and as an element of rainscreen system designs. Limestone panels can be mixed with other cladding materials.
