Rooftop farming is increasingly being incorporated into urban building design because it capitalizes on a valuable roof space in a vertical environment that is otherwise wasted.  Production of many different kinds of high-value vegetable and fruit crops, as well as beekeeping for honey, has been generated on vegetated roofs designed for urban agriculture.
