Rain screen cladding a part of your design?

Don’t forget to specifically consider the backup assembly and how it must be designed, detailed and engineered to accommodate the chosen cladding products, their configuration and attachment methods.  How that assembly must be detailed and constructed impacts cost and depth.  Leaving it to delegated design can create significant problems in execution.   You may have a desire for a single framing system, but your cladding or configuration choice requires double framing.
