Blackwood Skyfarm Project (4-2-2025)

Take a look at this post by Hydrotech and make sure to click on the link to the full article and read through it.   It is amazing what you can accomplish when you choose the right roofing assembly.

Think about the activities occurring on this roof, the planting and harvesting, the ability to change crops over time, the ability to change the entire configuration over time if programming calls for it.  All while the Hydrotech MM6125 protected membrane assembly quietly does its job, keeping it all watertight for the life of the structure.

Amazing.

“The Blackwood Skyfarm at POST Houston focuses on sustainability through regenerative farming practices, including crop rotation, cover cropping, and seed saving to maintain soil health and resilience.  By incorporating sustainable farming methods, the farm helps mitigate stormwater and the urban heat island effects, while also providing a habitat for local pollinators and wildlife in the urban environment.  The Skyfarm promotes sustainable food systems through educational programs, a local market, and direct engagement with the community.  Additionally, it serves as a model for future rooftop farms, showcasing how urban agriculture can thrive in challenging conditions while supporting environmental and community health.”

Hydrotech is proud to have contributed to such an impressive project and endeavor.  Read the full article
